I was trying to think back today on how our 9 campaigns to win the FAPL started and couldn't remember them all. I needed to know this to see if it is time to start hitting the panic button, so I went digging and this is what I found. I'm going to post the results of the first five games with W=Win, D=Draw and L=Loss including total points
1993 - L(A) L(H) D (H) W (A) W(A) Total points 7 (0 for the first two). Finished on 84 points, 10 ahead of Aston Villa.
1994 - W(A) W(H) D(H) W(A) W(A) Total points 13(6 for the first two). Finished on 92 points, 8 ahead of Blackburn Rovers.
1996 - L(A) W(H) W(H) W(A) W(A) Total points 12(3 for the first two). Finished on 82 points, 4 ahead of Newcastle.
1997 - W(A) D(H) D(H) D(A) W(A) Total points 9(4 for the first two). Finished on 75 points, 7 ahead of Newcastle.
1999 - D(H) D(A) W(H) W(H) L(A) Total points 8 (2 for the first two). Finished on 79 points, 1 ahead of Arsenal.
2000 - D(A) W(H) W(H) W(A) W(A) Total points 13 (4 for the first two). Finished on 91 points, 18 ahead of Arsenal.
2001 - W(H) D(A) D(A) W(H) W(H) Total points 11 (4 for the first two). Finished on 90 points , 10 ahead of Arsenal.
2003 - W(H) D(A) D(A) W(H) L(H) Total of 8 points (4 for the first two). Finished on 83 points ,5 ahead of Arsenal.
2007 - W(H) W(A) W(A) W(H) W(H) Total of 15 points (6 for the first two). Finished on 89 points, 6 ahead of Chelsea.
Average for first five games. 97/9= 10.8 Average
Average for first two games. 33/9 = 3.6 Average
Last Season we tied our best for first two games but our best in the first 5, only to be followed by a draw and loss. If we win our next 3 games it will leave us on 11 points which is just better than the average. Considering the quality of the FAPL I think we need to get 20 points from the next 7 games.
No panic buttons yet, just time to pull up our socks.

Another frustrating draw.
Not the result we were hoping for, not the start we need. These are the games we need to be winning. These are the results that led to us missing out on the title in previous campaigns. Two draws in two games and 2 points in total. This game was even more frustrating for me than the Reading game. We controlled the entire first half, all we lacked was that neat little finish which is so freaking important. Scholes scored his 96th League goal for United moving him ahead of Ruud to number 1 as Man United's top goal scorer in the Premier League. Benjani equalised from Taylor's cross in the 53rd minute. We showed signs of scoring more goals the entire game but just couldn't put the ball in the net. The last ten minutes saw Muntari getting sent off only to be followed by Ronaldo a few minutes later.
The Commentator mentioned that in our treble winning year we started off the season with two draws. In today's competitive League it wont be that easy, we need to have a great string of wins from now on to show intent. I'll post again tomorrow after I Hear SAF comments.
We are now going to be without Rooney and Ronaldo is facing a suspension. Like I said not the start we wanted.
Sundays game at City is going to be played for more than just pride now.
